Hitachi America, Ltd. located in Santa Clara, CA has an opening for a Staff Accountant- Financial Reporting position in the Corporate Finance & Accounting Department. The ideal candidate must have prior experience in financial statements preparation. This individual will be responsible for preparing quarter-end reporting to Hitachi, Ltd. (Japan) and other ad-hoc duties.
  • Assist in quarterly reporting to Headquarter in Japan which includes preparing SAP data for compatibility with Japan s reporting platform (customized consolidated platform/Diva/hi-tree).
  • Update SAP chart of accounts and map to hi-tree reporting chart of accounts.
  • Gain an understanding of hi-tree financial statements grouping and report SAP financial information accordingly.
  • Prepare quarterly intercompany receivables and payables to Headquarter Japan.
  • Update monthly results (e. g. orders, sales and pretax).
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting package for Headquarter and Department Heads.
  • Prepare annual consolidated business insurance package.
  • Assist in preparing the budget and forecast reporting package.
  • Assist in preparing annual consolidated financial statement package.
  • Prepare quarterly closing calendar and coordinate with departments to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Administration support (including CFO) as needed.
  • Ad-hoc projects as required.


  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration with concentration in Accounting is preferred.
  • 3-4 years of related experience in financial reporting is required.
  • Strong understanding of balance sheet, profit and loss reporting structure.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Knowledge of IFRS is preferred.
  • Prior experience with SAP is preferred.
  • Experience in consolidation is preferred.
  • Intermediate Excel knowledge.
  • Previous experience with Microsoft Access is preferred.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate in Japanese is preferred.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
